Steps to Salvation

The Bible teaches that every person has sinned and is separated from God, but because of His great love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins, be buried, and rise again on the third day. Salvation is the gift of God’s grace and cannot be earned by good works, religion, or personal effort. Jesus calls each of us to repent and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15), turning from our sin and placing our faith in Him alone for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
(Romans 10:13)

A Prayer to Help You Respond

Heavenly Father, I come before You recognizing that I am a sinner in need of Your mercy. I repent of my sins and turn to You. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, was buried, and rose again. Today I place my faith in Jesus Christ alone as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for forgiving me, giving me new life, and making me Your child by Your grace. Help me to follow You, obey Your Word, and grow in my relationship with You all the days of my life.

What Does It Mean to Repent?

Repentance is more than simply feeling sorry for your sin. It is a change of heart and mind toward sin and toward God - recognizing your sin, turning from it, and turning to God in faith. Repentance does not mean that you must make yourself perfect before coming to Jesus. You come to Him as you are, trusting Him to forgive you, change you, and lead you in a new way of life.
